ABOUT US
The Rock Church launched out of a heart to stop "playing church" but rather to "be the church". Stepping out in faith, a group of Union County residents gathered in July of 2023 to launch The Rock Church. We desire to see people, all people, come to know the hope of Jesus and to see Union changed by the Gospel.

Andrew, Courtney, Kayleigh, and Aubree Kate
Natives of South Carolina, the Austins have called Union County home since 2020. Andrew and Courtney met in college while serving in Courtney's home church together. Fast forward to today and they have spent since 2012 serving together in ministry throughout the Carolinas in various roles.

Since 2022, Andrew and Courtney have sensed a calling for a new and fresh Gospel-centered church in the heart of Union. As they began to prayerfully consider this huge step of faith, God made it clear their calling, His directions, and His plan for their lives. In 2023, Andrew and Courtney left vocational church ministry and stepped out in faith to launch The Rock Church with a group of friends who passionately love Jesus and Union.

Andrew works in the Insurance industry while Courtney serves within the Union County School District. Andrew and Courtney also serve the Union County community through various Boards and Committees.
Our mission
TO BE A PLACE OF HOPE FOR ALL OF UNION COUNTY.

A PLACE OF HOPE
Hope. The word means so many things to so many different people. However, to us, the word "hope" means:
-
A broken marriage is restored through the power of Scripture.
-
A drug addict finds freedom in Christ.
-
A lonely soul finds friendship among believers.
-
A person with questions, finds a place to ask those questions.

A "place of hope" happens when the single parent finds community within our walls, when the former inmate finds graces at the feet of Jesus, when the prodigal child comes home, when the believer stops "playing church" and starts living as the church.

A place of hope, for all of Union County, means all of this and more for all people. No matter who you are, where you have been, and what life throws at you. Building your life on the true Rock, Jesus, and find a home at The Rock Church.
Our values
Kingdom Over Castle
Mission Over Method
Scripture Over Society
Circles Over Rows
Jesus Over Everything

Kingdom Over Castle
We know church can be intimidating. We understand what it's like walking into a large room with uncomfortable seating and not knowing anyone. We have seen the stares and glares that some church people give to someone new in their seat. We want nothing to do with any of that. At The Rock, we understand that we can sometimes let man-made things and ideas to get into the way of people finding the hope of Jesus. We want to remove those things, and notions, that might cause someone to feel singled out or unwelcomed. When you walk into our doors, we want you to know that you belong and that this is home.

Mission over Method
You won't ever hear "We've never done it that way before" or "Let's not try that". We believe that the mission of the Church, to be a place of hope for all of Union County, is far too important and urgent to be afraid that an idea might fail. We are willing to take chances and risk it all to see people come to know the hope and grace of Jesus. How we do it doesn't matter as much as it does that it gets done.

Circle over Rows
We believe that all people are created for community. Life is hard and we are not designed to do it alone. As we go through life, we need other people who are walking through life with us. At The Rock Church, we believe that creating that community is vital. We do that through Small Group Bible Studies, fellowship gatherings, and so much more.

Scripture over
Society
We don't think that Scripture, the Bible, is an outdated book just for past generations. We believe that Scripture is God's living word straight to us, mankind. While our society might show us shiny things that make us want to take our eyes off of Jesus, we believe that Scripture, and the hope of Jesus, is far the greater treasure to run after. While we will do everything to embrace our community, we won't sacrifice following Scripture to do that.

Jesus over
Everything
No matter how good an idea might be or how awesome something sounds, we want everything we do to point people to Jesus. To know Christ more and to make Him known is our desire. In everything, we want to know that we are making much of Jesus. In all we do, we seek to glorify God and make the name of Jesus known. Jesus over everything, and we mean everything.
